Note for: Clifford Clayton Pierce, 25 APR 1895 - 11 OCT 1962

Residence: Date: 1930
Place: Weymouth, Norfolk, Massachusetts
Event: Type: SSN issued
Place: Massachusetts
Individual Note: (from the good folks at Gloucester Archives-
"Marriages, Vol. 5, p.305. May 25, 1919, Clifford Clayton Pierce, of Newton, MA, 24, printer, born Gloucester, son of William S. and Mabel F. 'Ross', first marriage, AND Alice Leon Ells, of Newton, 19, clerk, born Newton, parents Warren F. and Josephine 'Marks', first marriage, Married by Arthur Wellesley Warren, Minister of the Gospel, Gloucester.
There was no marriage for Lena E. Brown or anything like it (unless Alice Leon could be morphed into Lena Elizabeth) from 1910 to 1930. Perhaps his second marriage was to Lena? You could check for deaths or marriages in Newton."
My note- Of interest shows Alice Leon living with her parents in the 1921 Newton City Directory- assuming the marriage did not last and/or Clifford went away for something? Clifford had his first child with Lena Brown in 1925 so he must have married her sometime between 1919 and 1924. Since Lena had a child a year from 1925 to 1928 I'm guessing they married in 1924

Note for: Joseph Brown, 21 APR 1853 - 1915
Index
Alias: /Josiah/
Occupation: Date: 1911
Place: Farmer from 1911 Canada Cenus
Residence: Date: 1911
Place: Crousetown, Lunenburg,Nova Scotia
Event: Type: Misc
Place: No other info- family name from death record
Religion: Date: 1901
Place: Methodist
Burial: Place: Crousetown Crouse Cemetery
Individual Note: Canada Cenus 1911 asks what "Racial or Tribal" origins- both Bessie and Joseph have German - perhaps their Parents or Gparents were from Germany
Email from Rosemary Rafuse who kndly reseached this for me at the SSGS Office in Lunenburg stated that he was living in Crousetown at time of marriage and was a widower. Occupation was a farmer.
This matches with my recollection of reading about him in a book I had (and cannot find ) that said he married a young woman for his second marriage. I seem to remember that the book also said he had over 20 children between his two wives Need to find who his first wife was.

Note for: Bessie V. Merigold, 27 MAY 1880 - 6 MAR 1962
Index
Alias: Bessie /Harmon/
Residence: Date: 1911
Place: Nova Scotia
Event: Type: Misc
Place: No other info- family name from death record
Religion: Date: 1901
Place: Methodist
Burial: Place: Christ Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Camperdown
Individual Note: Census Canada 1911 has her age as 31 but birth year as 1890 - 1880 makes most sense based on kids ages.
Email from Rosemary Rafuse gave her age as 21 in 1901 when she married. She was listed as a Widow at 21 and her name was listed as Bessie V. Harmon when she married Joseph and her parents were Merigold. This Bessie noted below from NB has the same mothers name so perhaps they moved to NS from NB sometime before 1901.
From Familysearch.org this is the only Bessie Merigold (Marygold) in Canada The birth date works. She had a brother Arthur who on the 1911 census also spelled his name Merigold (was Marygold in the 1881 census. In the 1901 census (which would be after Bessie married Joseph) there is no Bessie Marygold or Merigold to be found. Bessie Brown is then married to Joseph. This could be our Bessie.

Note for: Mabel F. Ross, 1875 - BEF 1920
Index
Residence: Date: 1900
Place: Gloucester Ward 1, Essex, Massachusetts
Residence: Date: 1880
Place: Gloucester, Essex, Massachusetts, United States
Event: Type: Misc
Place: Married Mabel Ross on the 28th day of September 1891
Individual Note: There is a Mabel F. Pierce in Revere on the 1910 census that is listed as divorced.
Says she had 7 children, 2 living. ABout same age- Not sure if she divorced William SB Pierce. On 1920 Cenus William SB Pierce is lsted as "widowed"
There is also a Mabel F. Pierce on the 1930 census born 1876 in Mass in San Fran California but she is listed as single?? Age 54 head of household with lodger
Possible that she is adopted raised to me by researcher at Gloucester Archives as there are no birth records for Mabel and it appears she was born the same year Edward Ross and Frances Spinney were married. Frances was married to George Staten before Edward and he died in 1874- possible Mabel is his child??? For now with the dates I have I'm going with Edward being Mabel's father but that is a big assumption at this point.
There is also a Mabel F. Pierce living with her 1 year old son Edward on the 1900 census as a boarder with someone. This could be her as Edward's name and age match but where are the other kids?
